Vincenzo Bruno Named IABF-Sons of Italy Scholarship Recipient

Vincenzo Bruno received an Italian American Baseball Foundation and Sons of Italy Foundation scholarship after pursuing baseball from Italy through Canada to the United States. He maintains a 4.0 GPA, has represented Italy internationally, and plans to honor his family and Italian community.

Attention Italian American Mets Fans

For two seasons, the Italian American Baseball Foundation sought an Italian Heritage game with the New York Mets but received little communication and only an offer to purchase group tickets. While other clubs support such events, the Yankees host five Italian Heritage nights, prompting the IABF to demand better representation in Queens.

Mike Piazza, Lou Tallarini Presented with 2023 Joe DiMaggio Award

The Joe DiMaggio Award Dinner for the Joe DiMaggio Scholarship Fund included the Italian American Baseball Federation as a partner. Honorees Mike Piazza and Lou Tallarini were recognized, while proceeds support scholarships, youth development and baseball’s growth in Italy.

IABF Launches 2023 Scholarship Application

The Italian American Baseball Foundation has opened its 2023 college scholarship application process for graduating high school seniors and current college players. Scholarships are available to Americans and international students from Italy who express pride in their culture and heritage. Applications are due April 15, 2023.

Francesco Bonvini Earns Scholarship to College of Staten Island

Francesco Bonvini will continue his baseball career at the College of Staten Island on an athletic scholarship. The Italian native from Parma played at Kingsborough Community College, where he was named CUNYAC Pitcher of the Year in 2022 and helped win a conference title.

Save the Date: Joe DiMaggio Awards Dinner on April 4, 2023

The Italian American Baseball Foundation and Columbus Citizens Foundation will present the Joe DiMaggio Award to Baseball Hall of Famer and Team Italy Manager Mike Piazza and business leader Lou Tallarini. Proceeds from the April 4 event will support scholarships and youth development.

IABF, BTL Showcase Nets Another Scholarship

Congratulations to Marco Ragionieri, who has decided to continue his academic and baseball career at Arizona Western College! Marco, who hails from Parma, took part in the IABF-FIBS college showcase with Between the Lines and landed a scholarship from the exposure. Bravo, Marco!

IABF Names Scholarship in Honor of Steve Napolitano’s Dedication to Organization

Steve Napolitano has supported the Italian American Baseball Foundation since its formation in 2016 and hosted its annual golf outing at Engineers Country Club on Long Island. During the outing, IABF announced that an annual scholarship would be named in honor of Steve and his family.

IABF Awards Eight College Scholarships

The Italian American Baseball Foundation announced its 2022–2023 college scholarship recipients, nearly tripling its giving from the inaugural class. The awards recognize college baseball and softball players of Italian heritage with strong academic standing, including repeat recipient Francesco Bonvini of Kingsborough Community College.

IABF Launches Student Leadership Advisory Council

The Italian American Baseball Foundation is advancing its mission of youth development by launching a new Student Leadership Advisory Council armed with a purpose of creating opportunities for students to learn and develop their potential and interests in baseball and international relations specific to Italian culture.
