IABF Board Receives Honor Club NFT from Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball

The Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball launched its Honor Club, presenting inaugural authenticated NFTs to Italian American Baseball Foundation board members and honoring Umberto Mucci and Team Italy manager Mike Piazza. Membership tokens support FIBS activities, including youth development and baseball and softball promotion.

IABF Meets with MLB International, Has Board Meeting at Yankee Stadium

The Italian American Baseball Foundation held meetings in New York City on May 23, including discussions with MLB International SVP Jim Small about organizational goals and objectives. Leaders later met with board members at Yankee Stadium and spoke with Trey Mancini, Aaron Boone, Ron Marinaccio and Ryan Ruocco.

2022 IABF Bay Area College Games

The Italian American Baseball Foundation hosted its first Bay Area Collegiate Games in April, bringing players from Italy to compete against West Coast colleges for scholarship opportunities and cultural connection. The week included games, university visits, an Oakland Athletics event and honors for players, coaches and organizers.

IABF All-Stars from Italy to Compete Against Bay Area Colleges

The first IABF San Francisco Bay Area Collegiate Games will bring Italian baseball players to the United States from April 20 through April 27, 2022, to grow the game and bridge cultures. The IABF All-Stars will compete against five Bay Area universities, with Parma native Gibo Gerali as manager.

New Haven Coach Chris Celano Reaches 400 Career Wins. Congratulations to University of New Haven coach and Italian American Chris Celano on reaching 400 career wins. The Long Island native played professionally in Italy where he was a member of the 1999 Italian League Champion Rimini Pirates.

Play Baseball in Italy This Summer

Caliendo Sports International Baseball is organizing a youth baseball development trip to Italy, sponsored by the Italian American Baseball Foundation. Peter Caliendo, Mike Taverna, and Bill Sandillo will provide instruction during the July 25–August 4, 2022 program for ages 14–16, which includes tours and games in Italian cities.

Flashback Friday: 15 Years Since Inaugural WBC

Team Italia competed in the inaugural 2006 World Baseball Classic at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Italy opened with a 10-0 victory over Australia, then lost to Venezuela and the Dominican Republic and failed to reach the second round.

2018 IABF Italian Youth Clinic Trip

On its first official visit to Italy, the IABF held youth and coaching clinics in Rome and Nettuno, reaching more than 300 youths and about 60 coaches. The group also evaluated Salerno’s team and pledged bats, gloves and other equipment, advancing its goal of supporting Italian baseball.

IABF Launch and Fundraiser – MLB.com

The Italian American Baseball Family launched on December 8, 2016, with Mike Piazza and other Italian-American baseball players participating in a fundraiser for the Italian Baseball Federation. The initiative grew from ideas by Frank Catalanotto, Joe Quagliano and Marco Landi.
