IABF Hosts Second Annual Golf Outing

IABF held its second annual golf outing at Ramsey Golf and Country Club in New Jersey, drawing more than 75 golfers. The organization thanked its supporters, sponsors, and attendees and announced that its annual gala would take place on December 2 at Giondo’s in Brooklyn.

Italian American Baseball Foundation and National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame Announce Partnership

Representatives of the Italian American Baseball Foundation and the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame announced a partnership to promote Italian American heritage through sports. Their plans include youth baseball and softball clinics, cross-marketing, and expanded community and educational programs.

Mike Pagliarulo Inducted to New York State Baseball Hall of Fame

Italian American and IABF honorary member Mike Pagliarulo was inducted into the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame on August 15, 2021. The former major-league player, who helped the Minnesota Twins win the 1991 World Series, was joined at the celebration by IABF advisory board members Dan Palumbo and Gary Perone.

Marlins Celebrate Italian American Heritage Night with IABF

The IABF was featured on the field during the Marlins’ Italian Heritage Night, where fans received a special Marlins Italian shirt. The organization thanked the Marlins for their hospitality and Jess Crosson for arranging the outing, and noted meeting Anthony Iapoce.

Italian American Legend Rocky Colavito Honored with Statue in Cleveland

Rocky Colavito was honored on his 88th birthday with a statue in Cleveland’s Little Italy, where he attended the ceremony. The nine-time All-Star hit 374 home runs, led the American League in homers in 1959 and RBI in 1965, and belongs to the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame.

Former major leaguers Tino Martinez and Mike Pagliarulo mingled with attendees and answered questions about their careers at IABF’s first live event since the pre-pandemic period.

The Italian American Baseball Foundation co-hosted a four-day summer baseball clinic with Long Island Baseball on Long Island in July 2021. Former major leaguers Frank Catalanotto, Mike Pagliarulo and Chris Colabello served as guest instructors, teaching baseball fundamentals to more than 50 campers.
