The Italian American Baseball Foundation condemned a professional baseball player’s social-media interaction with an anti-Italian slur directed at an Italian American baseball writer, stating that racism has no place in society, social media, or baseball.

The Columbus Citizens Foundation in New York City hosted an Italian American Baseball Foundation panel for Italian American Heritage Month. John Franco, Frank Catalanotto, Mike Pagliarulo and Wayne Randazzo discussed Italian pride, baseball’s growth in America and Italy, and the modern professional game.

IABF Marches in NYC Columbus Day Parade

The Italian American Baseball Foundation participated in Manhattan’s Columbus Day Parade. The organization described the occasion as special and expressed appreciation for the many IABF friends who attended as it continued building its presence within the Italian American community.

Italian American Baseball Foundation Awards First Scholarships

The Italian American Baseball Foundation awarded its first college scholarships in fall 2021 to Francesco Bonvini, Franco Logozzo and Shannon Russo. The student-athletes, who play baseball or softball in New York and New Jersey, met criteria including academic performance, Italian heritage, roster status and financial need.

Italian American Baseball Foundation and National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame Announce Partnership

Representatives of the Italian American Baseball Foundation and the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame announced a partnership to promote Italian American heritage through sports. Their plans include youth baseball and softball clinics, cross-marketing, and expanded community and educational programs.

Marlins Celebrate Italian American Heritage Night with IABF

The IABF was featured on the field during the Marlins’ Italian Heritage Night, where fans received a special Marlins Italian shirt. The organization thanked the Marlins for their hospitality and Jess Crosson for arranging the outing, and noted meeting Anthony Iapoce.

The Italian American Baseball Foundation was featured on an episode of Yankees Magazine broadcast by the YES Network. The segment discussed Joey Gallo’s pride in his Italian American heritage, then presented the foundation’s cigar dinner and expanding domestic presence, with George Pisanti acknowledged for support.

IABF Hosts Second Annual Cigar Dinner

The Italian American Baseball Foundation held its second annual cigar dinner on August 6 at Roslyn Social on Long Island. Former major leaguers Tino Martinez and Mike Pagliarulo mingled with attendees and answered questions about their careers at IABF’s first live event since the pre-pandemic period.
